I have been trying to find out why the Kirks Castile bar soap has changed. I use it to make soap for washing clothes. I would grind it up in my food processor put two tablespoons in a half a jar of hot water and let it sit until I need it. It would turn into a gel. I noticed when I bought the 3pack it wouldn't gel. I bought all the individual bars of soap I could get at a store that is no longer carrying it. The lable ingredients are the same in both bars, but it definately is different.

I first used Kirk's Original Coco Castile bar soap on Scripps Institution of Oceanography ships during ocean cruises. It worked fine with both cold water and hard water. Since then I have bought it at local stores, and used it with my local hard water as my preferred soap. Recently, the formula was changed from the original that was made in the Philippines to a semisynthetic soap that does not dissolve readily in my local cold water. Now I cannot use it. It also has fragrance added.
