Wood Betony | Wood Betony (Stachys officinalis) was used frequently and held in high esteem by the Greeks and Romans. Wood Betony herb was also cultivated in monasteries and apothecaries which is why it was also called Bishops Weed. The Celtic translation of bew (a head) and ton (good) denotes its early use for complaints of the head.
